Hi Jackie I can fully understand how you feel. There is no information on an adult child enduring the syndrome. My daughter was 15 when she met her husband, he is 6 yrs older. Married him 3 years ago at 18 and my husband and i have not seen her since. we have a granddaughter we are not allowed to see. On seeing a psychologist he tells us that ours is a classic case of parental alienation syndrome, the only difference is that her husband is the abuser.

Husband's sons have been alienated

I worry about my husband, even though the problem is "over." By being "over" I mean that he no longer sees any of his four sons (age 22, 21, 19, 17). The reasons are too many to mention, although we fought it (legally, financially, morally, & every way possible). I believe that they had been alienated by the time I came into the picture (1 year postdivorce). My husband's ex-wife has done everything that she can do to ruin his life (during and after marriage). She particularly cannot deal with the fact that he has married and moved on. She has cost him a career, and his previous job (through spreading lies about him). She attempted to have the children get him back time and again. She has lied about everything, manipulated everyone, etc. Now my husband has let it go and has not seen the boys in 6 months. We are living our lives and trying to pick up the pieces. Now, after everything else, with 1 and 1/2 years left of child support, she has filed for an administrative review of the child support with intentions of taking us to court again. My husband had bought his minor son a car, paid car insurance, paid for his private school education (all above & beyond the court
order) and has never been behind on child support for any reason (including a period of unemployment). The most she could get from us is another $77 a month, per the child support calculation. If you calculate court fees/attorneys fees for the action, it will probably cost over $3,000. In return, she will receive a total of $1400 for the remainder of time. I take this as harrassment, plain & simple, again there is no legal action that we can take against her. My husband has cautioned the CSEA that they are not to release any information regarding our places of employment in case of future action on her part, but who knows if they will listen. This is a terrible ending and I'm sorry that I cannot report to a "success." I continue to worry about my husband, however, I know what it would be like to lose my children (I have two of my own). Respond if you like, but I basically needed to vent. There are no real solutions for us, as his sons continue to have no respect for their father (totally undeserved, I assure you). At least my children love him, and that is a fact.
