Welcome to...
|
There are many sources of information throughout the world. Though laws and perhaps customs differ, we can still learn a lot from each other.
We all share a common goal of wanting a loving relationship with our children without interference. This is true for both mother and fathers.
As time allows, we will include on this page organizations committed to strengthening family ties and
which seek justice and fairness in the judicial system. Though the PsyCare Foundation may not always agree or endorse everything that is written, we
recognize that one has all the answers and are committed to presenting divergent views to stimulate
debate.
The materials presented by the different organizations are usually copyrighted.
Typically, such organizations provide material as a public service and grant permission to print the material
for personal use. However, no one may publish it without the site's prior approval.
ABUSE
Dean Tong's Abuse-Excuse Website.
Dean Tong has been a guest on Dr. Phil, A Current Affair, and CBS 48
Hours. "Tong's motto is that false allegations must not be condoned. But real child abuse must not be missed."
His website provides resources, information, and more to adults unjustly accused of child abuse, child neglect, sexual child abuse, "repressed" memories, or sexual harassment.
"ASHES TO ASHES...FAMILIES TO DUST" is just one of his excellent books.
The Myth of Epidemic False Allegations of Sexual Abuse in Divorce Cases.
Published in the Spring 1998 issue of Court Review. Written by Merrilyn McDonald,
she states: "It is commonly believed that false allegations of sexual abuse in the context of divorce are epidemic, that most allegations made in the context of divorce are made by vindictive mothers and that these allegations are almost always false. These beliefs are not supported by scientific
evidence." The article gives numerous sources. The author
received her master’s degree in social work from the University of Washington School of Social Work.
Ms. McDonald works as a family preservation therapist. She also works in forensics
and works as a guardian ad litem in Bremerton, Washington. Along with a
physician, she works in pain management in Seattle, Washington. "Ms. McDonald has had a life-long interest in issues of child protection and well-being, with an emphasis on sexual abuse."

Children's Justice : Common Myths and Truths About Custody and Child Support in the United States.
Eye-opening information, such as: "This myth that "deadbeat dads are common" is the fruit of often-cited Census data on child support compliance - data that is fatally flawed. The Census Bureau asked only custodial parents if they were paid in full and on time, and never cross-checked any of their information - nor did they ask the non-custodial parent! Needless to say, asking the recipient alone is akin to asking the fox to guard the henhouse. (Source: US Census Bureau)."
This page is must-reading for both parents! The home page states:
"We are dedicated to protecting the rights of children and their parents in all family situations, including divorce, unmarried parents, and married two-parent homes."
American Psychological Association, APA Online (July 1994). Guidelines for Child
Custody Evaluations in Divorce Proceedings. American Psychologist: Vol. 49, No. 7, 677-680.
"Parental divorce requires a restructuring of parental rights and responsibilities in relation to children. If the parents can agree to a restructuring arrangement, which they do in the overwhelming proportion (90%) of divorce custody cases ( Melton, Petrila, Poythress, &
Slobogin, 1987), there is no dispute for the court to decide. However, if the parents are unable to reach such an agreement, the court must help to determine the relative allocation of decision making authority and physical contact each parent will have with the child. The courts typically apply a "best interest of the child" standard in determining this restructuring of rights and responsibilities."
The APA has outlined "[The particular] competencies and
knowledge...required [by psychologists performing] child custody evaluations to
provide adequate and appropriate psychological services to the
court." Parents will better understand the role of the
psychologist from reading the APA guidelines.

you want the Amber Alert code to add to your own website or blog, both can be
found at Child Search - National Missing Children Center
National
Center for Missing and Exploited Children
This is the premier website for missing, exploited and
abducted children. An excellent site that displays pictures of missing
children and has links to a Global Network. "The 1990 United States
Department of Justice National Incidence Studies of Missing, Abducted,
Runaway, and Thrownaway Children focused on the five components of the
missing children problem in the United States, and found that there were as many
as 450,000 runaways; 127,000 thrownaways; 438,000 children who were lost,
injured, or otherwise missing; 4,600 children abducted by nonfamily members; and
114,600 children who were targets of attempted abduction by nonfamily members....
The numbers are alarming, but most surprising was the number of children
abducted by family members. The researchers found as many as 354,100 family
abductions in 1988, larger than many previous guesstimates of 25,000 to
100,000...." [http://www.missingkids.com/missingkids/servlet/

International Parental Child Abduction
Over 350,000 children are abducted by a parent or family member each year in the
United States alone. Of that number, it is estimated that 2,000 to 3000 children
are illegally abducted to other countries by their non-custodial parent. This is a worldwide problem and becomes more so every year. Parental kidnapping is a crime. It is child abuse.
Maureen Dabbagh of Dabbagh & Associates, Capron, VA 23829 knows first-hand
the parent's terror of
International Parental Child Abduction. Read Maureen
Dabbagh's personal journal kept through 1998 about her efforts to be reunited
